The participants of the 4th International folklore Festival arrived to Karlovac in the forenoon hours. The only problem that has appeared was with the folk group from Netherlands who lost part of the luggage. After lodging and a short break, preparation for the opening ceremony of the Festival started, from sound rehearsal to defining the parade. At 20,30 h the cheerfully parade took place on the streets of Karlovac. Delegated by the bearer from Italy, the participants of the Festival attracted the attention and applause of numerous citizens of Karlovac who went along with the guests from Italy, Ukraine, Hungary, Netherlands who performed, this time, without costumes in "civil" outfit, Poland and hosts folk group "Matija Gubec". The crowded auditorium enjoyed in the program of the opening ceremony, and the attractive performances.

Sunday, 19. August 2001 After having the forenoon free, the participants of the International folklore festival saw the sights of Karlovac, the beauties of its rivers, especially river Korana, the Festival departure to Ogulin. Meanwhile, the lost luggage of the group from Netherlands was found and delivered to Karlovac. The full Hall of the University extension proved the acceptance of the Festival by the citizens of Ogulin. The atmosphere in the Hall was great. The audience applauded all the time, beautiful costumes, as well as the participants inspired the visitors. On the end hosts and guests from foreign countries exchanged gifts. After almost three hours of performance the audience wanted more but they had nothing else left but to wait for next year.
Monday, 20th August 2001
Monday, 20. August 2001 The early day began with the reception at the Municipality of Karlovac. The Major Mr. Bo`idar Joha and county prefect Vitomir Majoli welcomed the participants of the Festival to our town, county and Republic of Croatia. The town Duga Resa was the next destination of the Festival. Thanks to the exceptional organisation of the tourist association of the town Duga Resa, a picnic for all guests took place on the river of Mre`nica. Beach volleyball, canoeing, attractive diving… this is just a part of all the happenings on the bathing place "Pu{kari}". Although the participants came from five different countries, there were no obstacles for spreading friendship between them. After bathing the reception at the Major took place. After the reception, where the participants exchanged gifts with the Major, Mr. Ivan Banjav~i} and spontaneously started singing, began preparations for the concert. After the first performance it was clear that the citizens of Duga Resa accepted the Festival warmly.
Tuesday, 21st August 2001
Tuesday was reserved for the trip to the Adriatic coast. After lodging in the Scholar Home Lovran, everyone left to the Island of Krk, to town Vrbnik. This small town above the sea lived with the Festival that evening. On the central square there where a lot of people, citizens of Vrbnik, domestic and foreign tourists. After the parade through the small streets of Vrbnik the president of the Municipal Council, Mr. Franjo Toljani} welcomed everyone. After two hours of performance, the "party" lasted until late at night. Ever yone was singing, dancing on the stage, on tables. Still, after everyone had good fun, the buses drove back to Lovran.
Wednesday, 22nd August 2001
After the forenoon refreshing in the sea, the road took us farther to Umag. The parade on the streets was a full hit. The crowed saluted the participants of the Festival. The concert took place in front of the "Koralj" Hotel. A few thousand people enjoyed in the performance, loudly saluting all participants. Wright after the concert everyone returned to Lovra where the party lasted until the early morning hours.

Friday, 24th August 2001
The morning began with performances. Although tired, group from Poland and Hungary per formed in front of the market "Bond". That day began the traditional Beer Festival. The participants of the 4th International folklore Festival took part in the big parade, accompanied with special guest of the Festival, folk group "Bohinj" from Slovenia. Sportily and recreational centre "Korana" was crowded. After the opening ceremony of the Beer Festival the 4th International folk festival performed. In the Scholar Home was a big surprise. Ukraine celebrated that day 10 years of independence why the group from Ukraine organised a celebration. With candles, cake, singing and dancing, although in Croatia, the Ukrainians celebrated this important day for them and their country with dignity.
Saturday, 25th August 2001
The last day began with performances in Karlovac, Draganić and a concert in Topusko held by the Hungarian group. Everyone was kind of sad because, during this week many friendships have been made and love has born too. The closing ceremony began with the concert on the central stage of the Beer Festival. The last performance was special. Exchange of gifts, closing words of the organiser, applause of the crowded audience. That evening no one went to sleep. Everyone wanted to spend some more time with their new friends. They will all stay in touch through letters, e-mails...
